Fortunately the old wires have two layers of waxed cotton insulation, and the screw didn't go through both layers.
I cleaned this up before wrapping the wall in Tyvek; actually the wire was in great shape. The waxed cotton was quite pliable and all I had to do was wrap the punctured section with electrical tape.
